Every dance partner gives you a different amount of information
Taller, shorter, heavier, lighter, more toned or softer. What you adapt is the tone, never the principle.
Tone is muscular attention. Tension is a lockup. Too soft and your message is lost, too hard and it hurts. The right amount is not the one that works for you, it is the one this body in front of you can actually read.
Answer the tension you receive with an equivalent tension, do not swallow it and do not stiffen against it. Give a body to lead, not a weight to carry, and keep your own axis your own responsibility whoever you are dancing with.
In your next three dances, change one single thing. The amount of tone.
Adapting your tone is the core of lead and follow in kizomba.
When your partner's body is nothing like yours, step by step
