UrbanKiz technique: timing before tricks

The heart of the style is the offbeat. You often dance between the strong beats, not on them. Where kizomba flows continuously, UrbanKiz carves the music up with pauses and accents.

Dawou Tarraxo, pioneer of Tarraxo. UrbanKiz technique: timing before tricks

A saccade has a clear beginning and a clear end, and the stop is part of the movement. You stop dead, you do not ease into it. Clean beats fast every time.

Urban does not mean brutal. The intention is crisp, the connection stays soft.

Walk in place and clap only on the offbeats for two minutes before you dance them.

Urbankiz runs on timing, saccades and clean changes of direction.

If the timing is unclear, simplify the movement.
