TOCA STUDENT · Lesson 20 · Practice

How to practise kizomba alone without training your mistakes

Repetition only ingrains what is repeated. Practise a movement wrong twenty times and you have carefully built a wrong habit that takes months to unlearn. Ten clean repetitions genuinely beat fifty messy ones. That is not a slogan, it is how the nervous system works.

Dawou Tarraxo, pioneer of Tarraxo. How to practise kizomba alone without training your mistakes

So give yourself one goal per session. Film yourself, because what you feel and what the eye sees are rarely the same thing. Use slow motion, which shows the flaws speed hides.

Film the first and the last repetition of a five minute drill.

Solo practice is where kizomba and tarraxo technique is really built.

Practise with evidence, not only with sensation.
