TOCA TEACHER · Lesson 29 · Teaching

Teaching a wedding first dance. Your real job is their confidence

They are usually not dancers. They are two nervous people who want to look and feel good in front of everyone they love, once, on one of the biggest days of their life.

Dawou Tarraxo, pioneer of Tarraxo. Teaching a wedding first dance. Your real job is their confidence

Start with a proper intake, weeks ahead. The song and how fixed it is, the length, the venue, the dress, the shoes, the level and the fear. Then edit the music early, because ninety seconds danced well beats three minutes that run out of confidence.

Build one simple, repeatable base they can rely on when nerves erase everything, and decorate it with three memorable moments. An entrance, one clean highlight, a final pose for the photograph.

Teach them how to start. The first eight counts are where couples freeze. And give them an anchor for panic, a base step they can loop safely if the mind goes blank.

A wedding first dance lesson is half choreography, half reassurance.

Have you rehearsed them in the real shoes, filmed, under pressure?
